Meet Kayla Watkins! Kayla is a proud wifey, mama of 3 and business owner. Her company, Kayla Watkins LLC, is a Pinterest marketing agency that helps bloggers get more blog traffic & make more money by strategically repurposing their content on Pinterest.

She fell in love with Pinterest after it took the traffic for her first blog from 50 views a day to over 1,500 views each day. After seeing the power behind this tool and the transformation that it brings, she was hooked! When she’s not helping bloggers use their Pinterest accounts to get eyes on the beautiful content they create (plus raise their rates and make consistent affiliate income), she’s making memories with her young daughter and twin boys and creating space in her life for prayer and movement.

Get to know Kayla through her words & stories and be sure to check out her work on Pinterest and Instagram.

Tell us about yourself and what you do!

I'm Kayla, owner of Kayla Watkins LLC, a Pinterest marketing agency that helps bloggers get more blog traffic & make more money by strategically repurposing their content on Pinterest.

How did your business begin?

My husband and I moved back home to Tampa from New York City at the end of 2017, and I knew I wanted to find a way to work for myself. I had previously been doing in-house social media in NYC, but had a blogging side hustle. I had naturally used Pinterest to get over 1 million page views to my blog, and when my time freed up, my blogging friends were asking if they could hire me to help them results on Pinterest. I went full-time with my Pinterest marketing business in 2018 and have been doing it ever since!

What's 1 challenge you've faced and how has it effected your business? What did you do to overcome it?

I constantly face challenges. Some of my bigger moments of worry have really revolved around how to make my work and life jell. I had 3 kids in the last five and a half years, so I've struggled with creating maternity leave, balancing watching the kids and getting work done and so much more. I don't think it's overcome yet... ha. But I have learned a lot in time management and in making my work fit my life rather than the other way around.

What's 1 success you've had since you’ve created your business? How do you feel when you look back on it?

I'm really proud of my team right now. I have 3 people that have been working with me for 3 years, 2 years and 1 year, respectively. It took me a long time to get my team right, but I love working with all 3 and could not do business without a great team (especially with the whole 3 kids under 4 thing).

What's the best piece of advice you could give someone looking to start a business?

Don't stop. I know that's cheesy, but I truly believe that's all it takes. Business has soooo many up's and down's, and I doubt it ever feels "easy," but when you constantly keep going, you start realizing you WILL keep going. That provides a lot of comfort for me.

What's a pivot you've made in your business?

I niched down to bloggers instead of all creative businesses. I was mostly working with them anyways, and it's really helped me hone in on marketing and where I want to be showing up in order to reach my target clients.

When are you at your happiest?

I'm happiest when I'm with my family and friends. Living in Tampa, I'm able to live by 90% of my family and a lot of close friends. I wouldn't trade for the world.

What do you tell yourself when things get difficult?

You've done hard things before, and you've always gotten through it.

What’s 1 personal goal you've set for yourself this year?

I wanted to read more for fun, and I did. Getting a Kindle last year has been magical because it's something I reach for right before bed and at night when I can't sleep (instead of my phone which is not healthy, I hear 😅).

What's 1 business goal you've set for yourself to accomplish this year?

I wanted to become an S-corp in 2023... and I did! Truth be told, I'm still very confused but thankfully I have a CPA to help with the details.

What's the first thing you do on a Monday morning and why?

My Monday mornings are chaotic because I need to get my 3 kids up, fed and get my daughter to school. There is no aesthetic morning routine at the moment... unless you count chugging coffee tumblers. I do like to save Mondays for content vs. client work which I have found helps lessen the “Sunday Scaries.”

Where can you be found + what will you typically be up to on a Friday night?

I like to do something with friends on Friday nights whenever possible. My husband and I love to host people, feed them, play board games, have some drinks, etc.

Finish These Sentences:

My go to karaoke song is... “Yeah” by Usher.

My signature drink is… margarita or coffee... could not choose just one!

My go-to personal mantra is... I built my business to support my life, not the other way around. I will never regret choosing time with loved ones over work.
