Doing it for the ‘gram isn’t easy, babes! That’s why after a fun & helpful IG Live collab with Atlanta-based entrepreneur, Bianca Paggi’s I decided the tips we shared should go well beyond that live video. So she & I are sharing our best tips and practices in when it comes to improving your brand’s visibility on this popular platform in a blog so you always have access. We’re talking your feed’s look, themed posts, formatting, showing your face, IGTV, and much, much more. Let’s give it up for Bianca! I hope you find her tips just as helpful as I did.

1 // Keep your feed’s look consistent

A) Dark Mode or Light Mode

Pick a theme! When your Ideal Client looks at your top 9, you want her to know that all these squares are coming from the same brand voice. If one is bright & airy, and a few are dark & moody, and then it switches back— I think you’ve broken your line of communication. It’s not about being matchy-matchy, it’s about being consistent, babe.

B) Graphics & Quotes to break up your feed

You can use illustrations, graphics, & quotes to add more personality to your feed. One way to do this is with a quote template that you can create in Canva with your brand colors. Another way is to repost (always with credit!) content from a designer or artist.

C) Caption formatting

Avoid having one caption with lots of line breaks and that’s super long, to another caption being a big, chunky paragraph with no line breaks. I recommend the app ‘Spacie’ to help make our captions easy to read and consistent in look.

2 // Show up in your feed

It can be for #FridayIntroduction or any other day of the week, but make sure you are in your top 9 at least two times.

3 // Engage like a boss

Respond to comments & DMs! All of ‘em. Also, make it a point to comment on others’ content. Sharing your voice and time with others is key to building a solid brand.

4 // On brand highlights to keep cohesive on brand

With your highlights you want to make sure that they match back to your brand aesthetics, i.e. you’re using your brand colors so that they tie into your feed and brand elements. You can either create them yourself in Canva or head on over to Etsy and buy a pack that is on brand.

5 // How to create an on brand IG stories

You want to make sure that you are incorporating your brand colors in your stories 24/7 so people start to associate your brand colors with you and your brand/business. You also want to make sure that you are using a font from IG stories that matches back as close as possible to your brand fonts. You can also make IG story templates on Canva if you want a more template look, but either option works.

6 // Rock Canva like a pro

This is a must tool for everyone and is super user friendly, especially when you can input your brand colors, fonts, and logo into the Brand Kit, so when you are using templates you are able to easily input the right elements easily; as a result creating on brand content. You’ll also want to see what templates match back to your brand’s aesthetic and have your go tos so that it makes it easier and less stressful when creating content. This is such an amazing tool to use to make on brand and professional looking content.
