How To Get Clients Online as a Serviced-Based Business

First, let’s talk about what your serviced-based business might look like.

I’m guessing you’re a social media manager, a PR expert, or an online coach.

The good news is that your business primarily takes place online. This means you’re not restricted on how many clients you can take on or where you can find them.

But that’s the question— where do you find clients online?

Unfortunately, like most answers, I have to start with “it depends.”

However, below are 3 tangible steps you can take right now to determine where and when to get more clients for your business.

Step 1. Know Who Your Ideal Client Is

You may not be able to be picky about who your clients are at the beginning of your business journey. Heck, you may not even know who your ideal client is until months later.

Over time, you’ll be able to tell who you mesh with. But to give you a heads up: your ideal client is probably someone similar to you.

If you work great on deadlines, your ideal client will be organized.

If you hate micromanaging, your perfect client only needs one consultation call a month.

If you like to post memes for social media content, your ideal client will likely have the same sense of humor as you.

In the beginning— when you’re taking on any and all clients you can get from freelancing platforms (Upwork, Fiverr, etc.)— work on creating your Ideal Client Persona. Your ICA should include:

  • Basic demographics such as age range, gender,

  • Annual income

  • Personality traits

  • Their struggles

  • Their desires

  • Website or social media platforms they frequent

  • Hobbies

Once you have an idea of this person in your head, you’ll be able to easily recognize your “dream client” when you (eventually) meet them!

Step 2. Attend Networking Events

Not all networking events are online. In fact, Babe Crafted hosts one FREE digital networking event every month.

Not only can you walk away from these events with more knowledge, but it’s a great way to connect with other serviced-based business owners.

Even if you don’t walk away with a new client, it’s a great way to get word-of-mouth about your business.

Step 3. Create Reels

Video content is where it’s at if you need to get more clients online.

The good news is that you don’t have to show your face to get your clients (although it does help).

To give you the confidence to get started, here’s what I recommend:

  • Record yourself or use time-lapse footage of you working at your desk.

  • Pick a trending Reels sound.

  • Use the text feature to show your dream client one of three things: A client win, how to DIY something, the service you offer, or an inspirational story about your business journey.

Reels are the easiest (and most relatable) content method to get clients to reach out to you.

How To Increase Sales with Existing Customers

As a serviced-based business owner, you’re probably well aware that you need multiple sources of income.

But if you don’t need or want more clients, you can boost your income by increasing sales with existing customers.

To upsell existing clients, you can:

  1. Remind them to buy your helpful digital downloads via weekly emails;

  2. Offer them a discounted package deal (here’s how to price bundle)

  3. Show them social proof of why combining 2 services is better than one!
